Me, My Dad, and Valle Verde Country Club

Image
Everyone had idolized their parents at some point in their life. Growing up beside them all of these years has certainly had that influential effect. I’m mindful that everyone has different relationships with their parents. Mine just happens to be my Father who I look up to and aspire to be. During my pre-puberty years, all I did was imitate what he did. From shaving properly, to dressing up presentably, and being so organized on each and every field that I know of. Everything that he did, I was always there to follow and act like him. The point at issue is, I don’t get to see my Dad very often. His work demands him more time away from his family. He travels regularly mostly through South East Asia. And I don’t get to see him that often. And by the time my Dad gets home, he will only stay for one day or two then off he goes again to the airport for his next assignment. It’s hard for a kid to see his idol go, especially if I am the only one staying at home. My father and mother...

LIVING OFF THE GRID

Image
DON’T BUY PROPERTY SA MANILA… UBOS NA… GO NA SA PROBINSYA! How many properties do you have? 1, 2, 18, or 76? Some of you don’t have even one. Some of you might be renting your whole lifetime. There’s nothing to be ashamed with that, properties are ridiculously expensive in the city, most especially in Manila. When there is not much Lateral Property left in Metro Manila, end-users and the working middle class have not enough option but to go for Vertical Properties. And besides, would anyone choose to acquire (or afford for that matter) a property in a posh village such as Forbes Park, Ayala Alabang Village, Corinthian Garden, etc. and used all of their net worth in a 300 to 500 square meter piece of land? The amount that you will be investing in would be 120 to 200 million pesos. If you are Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg who has lots of money at their disposal then that’s fine, but to most of us, we would rather invest our hard-earned money on multiple income streams. Make no m...

When Do You Plan To Retire?

Image
When do you plan to retire? At 50, 64, 73, or at 102 (if you are still alive by then)? At what age do you want to hang your shoes and say quits? Will you base it on the number of years in the company that you are working in and maxed out on the company’s distribution for your retirement plan? Or hand over your business to your children and buy a beach property somewhere so you can swim and surf all day and all night long. In that way, you can retire early and live the life you always wanted. When is the best time really? Is there a number of years that we can follow? When is the ideal time? When I was in my 30’s, I was targeting to retire at the age of 50. I then realize that I have 2 sons who will be going to college. So then I adjusted my retirement plan when I reach 60. At that age, my children will be independently living on their own and financially wise to the world that we live in. Me and wife then can use the rest of our savings and investment for our retirement. Sou...

When Shit Hits the Fan

Image
When Shit Hits the Fan… What does it mean? Just imagine a pile of feces goes straight up to the ceiling fan. You can just imagine what the next picture will be… A Total Mess! Every single person on this planet has come across this dilemma before. And for those who haven’t encountered it yet, don’t worry there’s a shit load of mess coming in your way. This mess is unavoidable. Or even negotiable. The harsh truth is there’s no escaping from it. Everyone will go through this one way or the other. Normally you’ll see several sets of pictures of Yourself, your Mom & Dad, Grandparents, and your Siblings in an alley or the living room. Some family pictures are proudly hang up in the wall. That was before when shit hits the fan. That was when you were young, unhurt, and completely unscratched. But as you grow older, you will witness one by one that a member of your family has passed away or is in extremely critical condition. Now your family picture is not that gleaming and ...

Start With Your Backyard

Image
“Every business started small, and most of them came from their own backyard” Most of the backyard within everyone’s home has its purposes. Their backyard is commonly known as their garden or a place to hang out and unwind. This is also where they held their parties with their guests. But there is some backyard that is isolated, abandoned, and deserted. Their backyard has turned into a junk pile of their unwanted things. And it’s not only their backyard… there are also neglected empty garage, vacated rooms, and living rooms. It is not advisable if you have an idle place in your home. It becomes a negative semblance that can have a gloomy effect on you and your family. That is why it is recommended that you don’t leave any stone unturned. In that sense, you should not have any section in your home empty. Every station must serve its objective. I have friends who are exactly doing that. He converted his once empty backyard into a hobby and business rolled into one. The couple ...
