The Definition of a Friend Girl

Image
What is the meaning of a Friend Girl? Does that word exist? And if there is such a word, can that be effective in a Girl-Boy relationship? Me alone was not aware that there is such a term. I thought girls are built to be your love interest, bear your children, and were designed where boys really want… SEX! Bear with me if you please. I came from an All-Boys school where all of us students were like a pack of hungry hyenas trap in an isolated island. You can just imagine what our reaction would look like if we saw an incoming boat full of gazelles. Our boat was the Soirée, the High School Dance, and other events from All-Girls school like Poveda, St. Paul, and St. Scholastica. Most of us were predators ready to pounce for an attack. Little did most of us know that these Gazelles are not afraid of us. They are just afraid of our actions. What these Gazelles really want is to have a friend that they can count on. How come this word  “Friend-Girl”  doesn’t exist in...

West Philippine Sea is Ours

“A Testament that We Filipinos will never back down on Bullying” A few days ago, me, my son, and my Kumpare (meaning co-parenthood) went fishing in Balayan Bay. It was a wonderful experience. Going there at dawn with our fishing rods at hand. And seeing the sunrise while waiting for our first catch of the day. There were about 12 people there (we included). Whenever someone in the group catches a fish, they immediately put it in a pail. All of that harvest will be donated to someone who is just new in the group (namely me and my son). And as we pile up those fishes in the pail, the locals kept the chitchat coming. All of us in the dock area exchanged stories, laughter, and even some fishing tips & advises. In the middle of all of our conversations, I noticed one old fellow who is isolated and quiet sitting in one corner. I approached the guy and started conversing with him (for this article sake let’s call the guy Mang Lando). Mang Lando is pushing 70, retired, and c...

Enjoy the Good times, But Appreciate the Bad times

Saudi Arabia is now pulling out all OFW (Overseas Foreign Workers) at this moment. Saudi has given more importance to local employment, making all foreign workers (with exemplary skills) dispensable. All Filipino must now go home. They are now all jobless. One of them is Darwina. She is a Pharmacist who is expelled from work in Riyadh. She just arrived in The Philippines unemployed and uncertain of her future. She is now supposed to go home to her hometown in Zamboanga with her tail tucked between her legs (using dog terms). She feels defeated and ashamed. But most of all, Darwina is devastated with the outcome. She can’t believe all of her years of hard work and sacrifice have now gone into waste. She should fly back to Zamboanga, lick her wounds, take some time off with her family and loved ones, then after a few months or so, get her feet back on the ground and try her luck again. After all, she needs it badly. Getting that well-deserved break and long rest. But no, Darw...

A Fried Chicken Nation

Image
That is my son right there in the picture. Holding batches of day-old chicks that arrived on the farm. That is who we are. Our family has an endless adoration for animals… both domesticated and livestock. One of which is Chickens… It’s no secret that The Philippines are a  “Fried-Chicken Nation” ! These fluffy creatures are probably the most populous and most popular type of meat for most Filipino consumers today. Just look at Jollibee. Try to visit one of their branches and see for yourself the volume of orders of  “Chickenjoys”  of every single hungry customer. It goes without saying that Filipinos do love chickens and the demand is  “Huge” ! During the course of my business (particularly in this agricultural project), I managed to write a  “Booklet”. In that booklet, I’ve written all the things that I have done in my Poultry farm. My success and my failures, My improvisation and innovation. And also my mistakes and setbacks and how can anyone a...

Hail to the Green

2 weeks ago, I wrote an article about  “Public School Students Are Our Future” … Today, I’m going to bring up Private Schools and why they have a high success rate in producing countless leaders in business, sports, politics, and society. And the one private school that I’m going to address today is no other than my Alma Mater…  LA SALLE GREENHILLS ! La Salle Greenhills ( “LSGH” ) is a private Catholic school exclusively for boys. Standing on a 6-hectare piece of prime property along Ortigas Avenue in Mandaluyong, this school blends time-tested educational traditions and innovations that form learners into responsible citizens who live the core values of faith, service, and fellowship. This institution, which was founded on the vision of St. John Baptist De La Salle (Patron of Teachers), has excellent academic opportunities which constantly score top marks on standardized tests and have close to a 100 percent rate of students attending their university of their choi...

Workout Pa More, Healthy Pa More

Image
Take a close look at this picture… Do you see those bulky and beefy biceps? How about those veins that come up out of their muscles? Ang lalaki nila di ba? These people must be absolutely strong… Here’s one question… Kakasa ka ba? I see a lot of people get afraid of people who go to the gym to workout assuming the fact that they might get hurt whenever they are near them. Guys, let me tell you this… It’s not them that you should be scared about. It’s the thin guys that you should worry. The drug addicts who lost a lot of weight and look like zombies. Sa kanila ka dapat mag-worry. They may be not as heavy and intimidating like the heavy weight lifters but they definitely can kill you. These heavy weight lifters are one of the nicest people on earth. For one, they know how to love themselves. They know how to take care of their body. They are so curious about their health. And they give value to their life. Their energy and positivism can rub off also from those people who...
